The Central Defence Service Entrance (CDS) Exam is a national level defence entrance examination conducted by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) for recruitment in the field of defence services or vacancies of Commissioned Officers in Indian Navy, Army and Air Force. The Central Defense Services Entrance Exam is a written examination which takes place twice in a year. The shortlisted candidates are called for Intelligence and Personality Test. Qualified candidates are trained at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Air Force Academy (AFA, Indian Naval Academy (INA) and Officers' Training Academy (OTA). Army aspirants seeking admission in IMA, Air Force Academy and Naval Academy need to appear in English, GK, and Elementary Mathematics, whereas for enrollment in OTA,  English and GK are enough.

CDS 2 application forms were released by UPSC on August 5, 2020. A total of 344 vacancies have been opened for applicants to take positions of Commissioned Officers in Indian Army, Navy Force and Air Force. To apply for the same, the candidates are required to fill the application form before the last date i.e. August 25, 2020, along with application fee. The application fee must be paid till August 24 if the mode of payment is offline. The test for CDS 2 will be held on November 8, 2020.

CDS 2020: Eligibility Criteria 

Age Eligibility

  • For Indian Military Academy (IMA), bachelor male candiadtes born on or after July 2, 1997 but before July 1, 2002. 
  • For Indian Naval Academy (IMA), bachelor male candidates born on or after July 2, 1997 but before July 1, 2002.
  • For Air Force Academy, the age should be between 20 and 24 years as on July 1, 2021.
  • For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for men), bachelor candidates born on or after July 1, 1996 but before July 1, 2002.
  • For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course), unmarried candidates must be born on or after July 1, 1996 but before July 1, 2002.

Educational Qualification

  • Graduation-degree is a must for IMA and Officers’ Training Academy.
  • Degree in Engineering program from an acknowledged university is a must for Indian Naval Academy.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is a must for Air Force Academy along with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects in Class 12.

Physical Fitness

Applicants must be physically fit as per the physical standards set for admission to CDS.

CDS 2020: Application

The interested candidates need to register themselves on the official website and fill the application form for the CDS exam. The registration can be done by filling the basic details and the application can be made by paying the application fees, selecting the test centre, uploading the scanned images of photograph, signature, photo ID proof and declaration.

The application fee for the candidates belonging to General and OBC category is INR 200, however, those belonging to SC/ST do not have to pay any application fee. There is no application fee to be charged by women applicants also. 

CDS 2020: Admit Card

The Admit Cards for CDS 2 will be released three weeks before the date of examination and will be available online in the month of October. The successful applicants will be able to download the admit cards from the official website once they login using their registration number. The admit card is an important document that contains exam related information along with personal details of the candidate. No hard copy shall be sent individually to the candidates through post. So, it is mandatory to download, take a print out and carry the same on the examination date i.e. on November 8, 2020.

CDS 2020: Exam Pattern 

Exam Paper for IMA, INA and AFA contains three sections, namely, English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics whereas that of the OTA contains two sections i.e. English and General Knowledge. Candidates are given a total of 6 hours to attempt the test paper for IMA, INA and AFA and 4 hours to attempt the paper for OTA. Test papers for IMA, INA & AFA and OTA are of 300 and 200 marks, respectively. A deduction of 1/3 marks for incorrect attempts is applicable to all the tests.

CDS 2020: Result

The results for the CDS 2 will be declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the PDF format in December. The result will showcase the roll numbers of shortlisted candidates who will score the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination. These candidates will then be called for the Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview for the intelligence and personality test. The final selection depends on the merit list, medical fitness of the candidates and a total number of vacancies.

FAQs

Will I get the hardcopy of my result?

No, the results will be available online only on the official website. Any hardcopy of the result will not be sent to the candidates.

How will I be called for the SSB Interview?

You will be called for the SSB Interview only if you qualify the written test. An invitation is sent to the qualified candidates through mail to take part in the SSB interview. 

Is there any negative marking scheme?

Yes, ⅓ mark is deducted for each wrong answer.

Does UPSC release the answer key for CDS?

Yes, UPSC releases the answer key for CDS only post declaration of the result. 

Can we challenge the Answer Key?

No, you do not get any facility to challenge the answer key.

IGNOU 2020 TEE Answer Booklets & Re-evaluation Now Allowed to Applicants

Students participated in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) June 2020 TEE, and December 2019 TEE exam will now be allowed to apply for the xerox copies of answer booklets. Indira Gandhi National Open University has decided to allow the students for the revaluation and re totalling of marks, they scored in these examinations.

The results of IGNOU June 2020 TEE were announced on October 1. With the upcoming facility of issuance of the photocopy of answer booklets, the students who were dissatisfied with their results can apply for the revaluation of marks scored in the term-end examinations and the photocopies of IGNOU TEE answer sheets. 

The application for the same will have to be made online on the official website of the university. Students simply need to go to the IGNOU website and click apply on the designated link. After which, a few details need to be filled, followed by the payment of the application fee and submission of the application form. 

It must be noted that the applications for revaluation and photocopies of IGNOU December 2019 TEE and IGNOU June 2020 TEE of exams comprising MCQ type questions are disallowed. 

According to the statement in the IGNOU revaluation window,  “Reevaluation and copy of Answerscripts is not available for the Following Exam for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type and conducted on OMR sheets.”

Students can apply for and get the photocopies of the answer booklets of IGNOU June TEE and IGNOU December TEE examinations if the answer copy has not been handled for Re-evaluation. Students can either first make an application for the copy of Answer Sheet, followed by an application for Re-evaluation or go for both simultaneously.

UP Govt to pay Education Expenses of NEET Topper

Education expenses of NEET topper Akansha Singh will be paid by Uttar Pradesh Government. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made an announcement about the disbursement of her graduation expenses. These expenses will include the expenditure of food and lodging during all the academic levels of her graduation.

Akansha Singh lives in Kushinagar district of UP and has achieved 100% score in NEET 2020 exam.  

Though Akansha was given second rank in the examination, she has been declared as top-ranked along with Soyeb Aftab who is native of Odisha state. On the direction of CM Yogi Adityanath, a letter is to be sent by the chief secretary of UP state, to the authorities concerned for the declaration of NEET 2020 ranks to declare Akansha Singh and Soyeb Aftab, both as the first rankers of NEET 2020 examination as they both have scored 720 marks out of maximum score of 720. 

Besides, personal wishes are sent from UP CM to the family members and parents of AKansha Singh, laurelled the top- scorer as an ideal for all the girls. CM Yogi Adityanath appreciated the hard -work she has made and the high perseverance she has maintained throughout her preparation. 

On the other side, Shoyeb Aftab has also created a history with a full score of 720/720 and All India Rank of 1. He is the first-ever candidate to score 100% in NEET examination. From Odisha state also, he is the first student to Top NEET. With this high score, he hopes to get admission in AIIMS New Delhi. 

NEET 2020 comprises a sum of 180 MCQ type questions for a maximum of 720 marks. Qualified candidates who have scored at least or more than NEET 2020 cut-off are considered eligible to participate in the counselling process of NEET 2020. This implies that the candidates with scores more than NTA NEET 2020 cut-off will be eligible for enrollment to state-quota seats India quota (AIQ) seats through NEET 2020 counselling. The NEET 2020 cutoff for students who belong to General Category is 147. The highest number of students who have qualified NEET 2020 are from Uttar Pradesh followed by Maharashtra.

Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association, KPPGCA has released the admit card for KMAT 2020 for the eligible candidates who applied for the examination by filling the application form and paying the prescribed application fee. The admit card has been released via online mode on the official website of KPPGCA on 27th October 2020. 

Successful candidates need to download their admit card from the official website i.e. kmatindia.com. using their login credentials.

Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) 2020 is an entrance examination that will be conducted by KPPGCA (Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association) to offer enrollment to the qualified candidates in 189+ AICTE or University accredited Management Schools established in Bangalore and Karnataka. This year, the examination will be conducted on 29th October 2020 for admission to management institutes in the state. 

The exam will take place via online mode, keeping in mind all the precautionary measures amid COVID-19. All the participants must carry along their KMAT Admit Card otherwise the entry to the exam hall is prohibited. Check below the simple steps to download the KMAT 2020 Admit Card.

According to an official statement by Raghu Sharma, Rajasthan Health Minister, approval for the additional seats in MBBS in Rajasthan has been granted. 230 additional seats have been green signalled for the MBBS programmes at four medical schools in the state. 50 additional seats will be given to the medical schools in Udaipur and Ajmer. As far as Barmer Medical College is concerned, there will be an increment of 30 seats this year. 

In comparison to last year when there was a total increment of 550 seats, seats added this year are lower. However, if taken together, the total addition in MBBS seats in the last two years reaches 880 in Rajasthan, thereby making a sum of 2830 total MBBS seats in Rajasthan, today. 

The initiation of Srikalyan Government Medical College, Sikar has also received approval by the National Medical Science Commission. The Srikalyan Government Medical College, Sikar will be started in the session 2020-21. 

Sikar is a native district and approval of a medical college in Sikar was great news for Govind Singh Dotasara, Congress State President, who expressed extreme joy through a tweet over the approval.

"The much-awaited Sikar Medical College has received the approval of the National Medical Science Commission. It is a result of the strong will power of the Congress government of the state that the Sikar people have got their right, their medical college," a tweet by Mr Dotasara.

The news highlights the commencement of first round of NEET 2020 Counselling from Tomorrow

The first round of the NEET 2020 Counselling will start from 27th of October 2020 by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The first round of seat allotment under this process will commence from tomorrow. The counselling process will be conducted only for those candidates who have qualified the NEET 2020 exam. Unqualified aspirants will not be able to take part in the same. However, the registration is mandatory for the eligible candidates to participate in the counselling. 

Registration for the first round of seat allotment needs to be done on the official website of MCC - mcc.nic.in. and will remain open till 2nd November 2020 before 5 pm. It must be noted that registration must be done before the deadlines otherwise the participation in the seat allotment process is prohibited. 

NEET 2020 registration process seeks the names of the courses and colleges preferred by the candidates that means the candidates will have to fill in their choices about the college and the course during the registration process. However, the candidates will be allowed to fill in their preference within a specific course of time i.e. from 28th October 2020 to 2nd November 2020, after that the preferences will be frozen. 

Followed by the 2nd round of seat allotment, details about which will be notified very soon, the 1st round will be conducted on 3rd and 4th November and the results of the same will be declared on 5th November 2020. Here is the process to register for the counselling process of NEET 2020:

NEET counselling 2020: Online registration process

Step 1: Go to the official website of MCC i.e. mcc.nic.in.

Step 2: Find and click on the ‘UG Medical Counselling’ link available on the homepage.

Step 3: Click on ‘New Registration’.

Step 4: Save your new login ID and password that will appear on the screen.

Step 5: Click on ‘Candidate Login’ and enter your new login credentials.

Step 6: Enter all the details asked.

Step 7: You will get a registration slip after filling all the details. 

Step 8: Make a payment of the registration fee. 

The registration fee needs to be paid before the deadline and the due date for the payment of the registration fee for NEET 2020 Counselling's first round is 2nd November 2020.
