JEE Advanced: An Academic Exam That Concludes Your Entry to IIT 

JEE Advanced is an engineering entrance test conducted once in a year by anyone of the heptade zonal IITs (IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras & IIT Guwahati) under the leadership of the Joint Admission Board (JAB), for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology and other premier engineering colleges in India. 

In 2013, when the AIEEE was renamed as JEE (Main), JEE Advanced replaced the IIT-JEE. 2017 onwards, IIT started conducting this exam at the international front to grease the wheels for foreign residents to take admission in big-league colleges of India. Besides being imperative for admission to IIT, the score of JEE Advance acts as a benchmark for admission to other universities like the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, and the Indian Institute of Science and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISERs), as well. 

Official Release of JEE Advanced 2020 Paper Pattern

JEE Advanced 2020 will be conducted in August 2020 by IIT Delhi. The official examination pattern has already been released online by IIT Delhi. JEE Advanced 2020 Exam will be a computer-based test and be comprised of two papers i.e. Paper I and Paper-II. The concept of full, partial and zero marks has construed the marking scheme of JEE Advanced 2020 examination pattern. The question paper of JEE Advanced Exam will also have an itemized marking scheme in it. 

Latest Update

According to the latest announcement by the HRD minister, the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2020 will be held by Delhi IIT on August 23, 2020. Initially scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, May 17 2020 for admission to IITs, the exam was rescheduled to be conducted on July 12 due to the imposition of nationwide lockdown to prevent the dispersion of COVID-19, however, the dates have been further deferred. 

The release of application forms for JEE Advanced 2020 has also been put off till the new dates which will be disclosed later on the official website. 

JEE Advanced 2020: Main Dates

Important dates like registration date, result date, counselling date and application date are also anticipated to be revised in the wake of JEE Advanced exam deferral. The new dates related to the exam will be announced later. Some of the important dates related to JEE Advanced 2020 are as follows:

JEE Advanced 2020 Application Form :

Date for the onset of JEE Advanced 2020 Registration is yet to be announced along with the last date of fee payment.

JEE Advanced 2020 Admit Card:

Date for the release of JEE Advanced 2020 admit card will be announced later on the official site along with the last date to download the same. 

JEE Advanced 2020 Exam Date:

The exam date for JEE Advanced 2020 has been postponed to August 23.

JEE Advanced 2020 Answer Keys:

The provisional & final answer keys of JEE Advanced 2020 will be disclosed by the exam conducting authority. The dates for both are to be announced. 

JEE Advanced 2020 Results:

JEE Advanced 2020 exam results comprising exam scores,  subject-wise marks, candidates’ All India Rank (AIR) of candidates, will be announced in September 2020 by the IIT Delhi. 

JEE Advanced 2020 counselling and seat allotment:

Counselling and seat allotment process will be organised by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The date for the same is to be announced.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2020 should be checked by the aspirants before filling the application form as ineligibility leads to disqualification from the examination. 

JEE Advanced 2020 eligibility criteria are divided among five headings and mentioned below:

1. Age limit

* For General or OBC-NCL category - candidates born on or post October 1, 1995, are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2020 exam. 

* For SC, ST or PwD category - candidates born on or post October 1, 1990, are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2020 exam. 

2. JEE Main 2020 Result

The top 2,50,000 rankers throughout all the categories in JEE Main 2020 are the eligible candidates for JEE Advanced 2020 and out of the total top 2,50,000 rankers, the percentage of contestants qualified for admissions under various categories are as follows:

46.5% of General category candidates from the common merit list

27% of OBC-NCL candidates

15% of SC candidates

7.5% of ST candidates

4% of General EWS

A horizontal reservation of 5% in all the above-mentioned categories for PWD candidates

However, the total number of eligible candidates can be marginally higher than 2,50,000 under the availability of “tied” ranks/scores. 

Number of attempts

A maximum number of two attempts are allowed to candidates in two consecutive years to appear for JEE Advanced 2020. After the two attempts, the candidate becomes ineligible for JEE Advanced 2020.

Class 12 or equivalent exam

Candidates who appeared for Class 12 or equivalent exam for the first time in the year 2019 or 2020 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2020. 

Prior admission at IITs/ISM

Candidates who were given admission in any IIT, regardless of whether or not he/she pursued the programme OR obtained an IIT seat by presenting him/herself at a reporting centre previously, are ineligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2020. 

Candidates whose admissions at IITs were revoked post-joining any IIT are ineligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2020.

Candidates who have taken admission for any preparatory course for the first time in any of the IITs, are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2020.

The candidates who paid seat acceptance fee in 2019, however,

(i) did/ could not present him/herself at any reporting centre OR,

(ii) drew away or called off their seats, before the final round of seat allotment for IITs in the joint seat allocation in 2019, are also eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2020.

Note: In all the above-mentioned cases, the candidate needs to comply with the conditions noted in criterion1 to criterion4.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals

Foreign nationals i.e. the candidates who have pursued/pursuing 10+2 level or equivalent from abroad while registering for JEE(Advanced) 2020 or who are not Indian citizens are kept out of the reservation ambit available for GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories. Such candidates do not need to appear for JEE (Main) 2020 and they may directly register for JEE (Advanced) 2020 if they duly fulfil other eligibility criteria. 10% of total seats are the additional seats that are allotted to foreign nationals in every course. 

Syllabus

JEE(Advanced) 2020 is an online exam that has two compulsory papers ie. Paper 1 and Paper 2 prepared from syllabus announced by the JEE Advanced authorities of IIT Delhi. Filing of an application form for JEE Advanced 2020 is to be done online and includes a series of steps that start from registration, continues with documents upload & payment of application fee and ends with the download or print of confirmation page. Lets us have a light look as to how this process goes on:

Registration 

Use JEE Main 2020 password, roll number and security pin to log in to the JEE Advanced registration website. Foreign candidates may directly file the online registration form & note down their login id and password.

Fill in the same academic, personal and contact details as given during the registration for JEE main 2020. The information appears in the 'Read-only' mode on the screen.

Enter some additional details required in the JEE Advanced Registration form.

Uploading the documents and scanned certificates in the prescribed format.

Indian candidates need to upload the copy of following documents in JPG format:

Class X certificate or Birth Certificate - Mandatory for all candidates

Class XII (or equivalent exam) Certificate - Mandatory only for those candidates who have qualified class 12th Board or equivalent in 2017 and 2018, if the result for the academic year 2016-17 is declared post-June 2017.

Category Certificate and an additional category Certificate (Optional) - Mandatory for SC /ST /OBC-NCL candidates.

PwD Certificate - Mandatory for candidates who have selected “Yes” for PwD.

Scribe Request Letter - Mandatory for candidates who have selected “Yes” for PwD and Scribe Request Letter.

DS Certificate - Mandatory for candidates who have selected “Yes” for DS.

OCI Card/PIO Card - Mandatory for OCI or PIO nationality.

Foreign candidates need to upload the copy of following documents in JPG format:

Photograph, Signature, Class X or Birth Certificate, Identity Proof of the Candidates, Passport of Mother & Father and Testimonial as applicable - Mandatory for all the candidates

Take the printed copy of the unique registration number along with other registration details allotted to you after the successful payment through any of the modes. 

Unsuccessful payment of complete fee leads to the application rejection.

Download or Print of Confirmation Page

After the successful payment of application fee and submission of the application form, the applicant must take a printed copy of the confirmation page and keep it secure for future use. A printed copy of confirmation page testimonies the confirmation of registration even when there are some technical glitches. 

Avoid using mobile for filing the application form for JEE Advanced 2020. Internet Explorer (version 11 or higher), Google Chrome (version 50-69) and Mozilla Firefox (version 50 -61) are some of the best web browsers to fill application forms for JEE Advanced 2020.

Admit Card

Only the successfully registered candidates can download the JEE Advanced 2020 admit card from the official website of JEE Advanced 2020by entering their registration number, email ID, DOB and mobile number. 

Admit cards are the examination ticket that needs to be presented while appearing for the test along with any of these original photo ID proof - Aadhaar Card/ Driving License/ School/ College ID/ Pan Card/ Passport. 

JEE Advanced 2020 admit cards have the Name of the candidate along with his/her DOB, photograph, gender, signature and JEE Advanced as well as JEE Main Roll Number.  Exam details such as date, timing, name & address of JEE Advanced test centre along with guidelines for exam day are also mentioned in the admit card. 

Candidates must verify the personal details and contact the authoritative zonal official coordinating IIT,  in case of any disparities.

Note:

Admit cards can only be downloaded and they are not individually posted to candidates.

Admit cards must be kept safe even after the completion of the admission process as the same is used for the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT).

JEE Advanced 2020 Cut-Off

JEE Advanced 2020 cut off refers to the minimum marks or percentage that an aspirant requires to secure to get included in the rank list of JEE Advanced 2020. Minimum specified marks in each subject and also in aggregate determines the qualification & comprisal of candidates in the rank list and so the candidate’s admissions in the leading IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology).

Indian Institutes of Technology) Delhi will announce the category-wise cut-off for JEE Advanced 2020. Generally, the cut-offs are announced at least after a month of exams. Candidates may check the cut-off of previous years to get an idea.

IGNOU 2020 TEE Answer Booklets & Re-evaluation Now Allowed to Applicants

Students participated in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) June 2020 TEE, and December 2019 TEE exam will now be allowed to apply for the xerox copies of answer booklets. Indira Gandhi National Open University has decided to allow the students for the revaluation and re totalling of marks, they scored in these examinations.

The results of IGNOU June 2020 TEE were announced on October 1. With the upcoming facility of issuance of the photocopy of answer booklets, the students who were dissatisfied with their results can apply for the revaluation of marks scored in the term-end examinations and the photocopies of IGNOU TEE answer sheets. 

The application for the same will have to be made online on the official website of the university. Students simply need to go to the IGNOU website and click apply on the designated link. After which, a few details need to be filled, followed by the payment of the application fee and submission of the application form. 

It must be noted that the applications for revaluation and photocopies of IGNOU December 2019 TEE and IGNOU June 2020 TEE of exams comprising MCQ type questions are disallowed. 

According to the statement in the IGNOU revaluation window,  “Reevaluation and copy of Answerscripts is not available for the Following Exam for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type and conducted on OMR sheets.”

Students can apply for and get the photocopies of the answer booklets of IGNOU June TEE and IGNOU December TEE examinations if the answer copy has not been handled for Re-evaluation. Students can either first make an application for the copy of Answer Sheet, followed by an application for Re-evaluation or go for both simultaneously.

UP Govt to pay Education Expenses of NEET Topper

Education expenses of NEET topper Akansha Singh will be paid by Uttar Pradesh Government. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made an announcement about the disbursement of her graduation expenses. These expenses will include the expenditure of food and lodging during all the academic levels of her graduation.

Akansha Singh lives in Kushinagar district of UP and has achieved 100% score in NEET 2020 exam.  

Though Akansha was given second rank in the examination, she has been declared as top-ranked along with Soyeb Aftab who is native of Odisha state. On the direction of CM Yogi Adityanath, a letter is to be sent by the chief secretary of UP state, to the authorities concerned for the declaration of NEET 2020 ranks to declare Akansha Singh and Soyeb Aftab, both as the first rankers of NEET 2020 examination as they both have scored 720 marks out of maximum score of 720. 

Besides, personal wishes are sent from UP CM to the family members and parents of AKansha Singh, laurelled the top- scorer as an ideal for all the girls. CM Yogi Adityanath appreciated the hard -work she has made and the high perseverance she has maintained throughout her preparation. 

On the other side, Shoyeb Aftab has also created a history with a full score of 720/720 and All India Rank of 1. He is the first-ever candidate to score 100% in NEET examination. From Odisha state also, he is the first student to Top NEET. With this high score, he hopes to get admission in AIIMS New Delhi. 

NEET 2020 comprises a sum of 180 MCQ type questions for a maximum of 720 marks. Qualified candidates who have scored at least or more than NEET 2020 cut-off are considered eligible to participate in the counselling process of NEET 2020. This implies that the candidates with scores more than NTA NEET 2020 cut-off will be eligible for enrollment to state-quota seats India quota (AIQ) seats through NEET 2020 counselling. The NEET 2020 cutoff for students who belong to General Category is 147. The highest number of students who have qualified NEET 2020 are from Uttar Pradesh followed by Maharashtra.

Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association, KPPGCA has released the admit card for KMAT 2020 for the eligible candidates who applied for the examination by filling the application form and paying the prescribed application fee. The admit card has been released via online mode on the official website of KPPGCA on 27th October 2020. 

Successful candidates need to download their admit card from the official website i.e. kmatindia.com. using their login credentials.

Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) 2020 is an entrance examination that will be conducted by KPPGCA (Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association) to offer enrollment to the qualified candidates in 189+ AICTE or University accredited Management Schools established in Bangalore and Karnataka. This year, the examination will be conducted on 29th October 2020 for admission to management institutes in the state. 

The exam will take place via online mode, keeping in mind all the precautionary measures amid COVID-19. All the participants must carry along their KMAT Admit Card otherwise the entry to the exam hall is prohibited. Check below the simple steps to download the KMAT 2020 Admit Card.

According to an official statement by Raghu Sharma, Rajasthan Health Minister, approval for the additional seats in MBBS in Rajasthan has been granted. 230 additional seats have been green signalled for the MBBS programmes at four medical schools in the state. 50 additional seats will be given to the medical schools in Udaipur and Ajmer. As far as Barmer Medical College is concerned, there will be an increment of 30 seats this year. 

In comparison to last year when there was a total increment of 550 seats, seats added this year are lower. However, if taken together, the total addition in MBBS seats in the last two years reaches 880 in Rajasthan, thereby making a sum of 2830 total MBBS seats in Rajasthan, today. 

The initiation of Srikalyan Government Medical College, Sikar has also received approval by the National Medical Science Commission. The Srikalyan Government Medical College, Sikar will be started in the session 2020-21. 

Sikar is a native district and approval of a medical college in Sikar was great news for Govind Singh Dotasara, Congress State President, who expressed extreme joy through a tweet over the approval.

"The much-awaited Sikar Medical College has received the approval of the National Medical Science Commission. It is a result of the strong will power of the Congress government of the state that the Sikar people have got their right, their medical college," a tweet by Mr Dotasara.

The news highlights the commencement of first round of NEET 2020 Counselling from Tomorrow

The first round of the NEET 2020 Counselling will start from 27th of October 2020 by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The first round of seat allotment under this process will commence from tomorrow. The counselling process will be conducted only for those candidates who have qualified the NEET 2020 exam. Unqualified aspirants will not be able to take part in the same. However, the registration is mandatory for the eligible candidates to participate in the counselling. 

Registration for the first round of seat allotment needs to be done on the official website of MCC - mcc.nic.in. and will remain open till 2nd November 2020 before 5 pm. It must be noted that registration must be done before the deadlines otherwise the participation in the seat allotment process is prohibited. 

NEET 2020 registration process seeks the names of the courses and colleges preferred by the candidates that means the candidates will have to fill in their choices about the college and the course during the registration process. However, the candidates will be allowed to fill in their preference within a specific course of time i.e. from 28th October 2020 to 2nd November 2020, after that the preferences will be frozen. 

Followed by the 2nd round of seat allotment, details about which will be notified very soon, the 1st round will be conducted on 3rd and 4th November and the results of the same will be declared on 5th November 2020. Here is the process to register for the counselling process of NEET 2020:

NEET counselling 2020: Online registration process

Step 1: Go to the official website of MCC i.e. mcc.nic.in.

Step 2: Find and click on the ‘UG Medical Counselling’ link available on the homepage.

Step 3: Click on ‘New Registration’.

Step 4: Save your new login ID and password that will appear on the screen.

Step 5: Click on ‘Candidate Login’ and enter your new login credentials.

Step 6: Enter all the details asked.

Step 7: You will get a registration slip after filling all the details. 

Step 8: Make a payment of the registration fee. 

The registration fee needs to be paid before the deadline and the due date for the payment of the registration fee for NEET 2020 Counselling's first round is 2nd November 2020.
