Now substituted by NEET, JIPMER is a national level entrance test conducted by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, Puducherry to search into and enroll the eligible candidate into UG medical MBBS programme. Based on the performance of the candidates and attainment of minimum cut off scores, approx 200 seats are offered through this entrance exam into MBBS programmes in the JIPMER Karaikal, Puducherry campuses or other affiliated medical schools.
JIPMER 2020: Recent Updates
On the confirmation by Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, the JIPMER entrance exam has been substituted by NEET. By replacing JIPMER and AIIMS entrance tests, NEET becomes the only entrance test in the country for enrollments into medical programmes. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test/NEET 2020 will be organised as a national level medical entrance exam once in a Year in pen-paper mode by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to offer admissions in BDS, MBBS and Ayush programs. This year NEET will take place on July 26, 2020.

JIPMER 2020: Eligibility Criteria
Nationality:
- Indian citizenship
- Under Foreign Citizenship, proof of registration as OCI u/s 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 is required.
- Permission from Medical Council of India is required by Foreign National aspirants before application.
Qualification Criteria:
- Qualifying Examination: Qualification in 10+2 exam or its equivalent from a recognized board/university.
- Qualifying Subjects: Physics, Biology/Biotechnology and Chemistry are mandatory subjects with English as elective subject.
- Qualifying Marks: At least 50% marks in aggregate for UR/General candidates, 40% in aggregate for ST/SC/OBC and reserved category, 45% in aggregate for OPH-General candidates.
- Appearing aspirants: Candidates appearing for standard 12th exams are also eligible to apply for the test.
Age Criteria:
- Minimum 17 years of age as on December 31, 2020
- No upper age limit.
- No age relaxation for reserved categories.
JIPMER MBBS 2020: Admission Process
NEET has become the only UG medical entrance exam to get admission into the JIPMER MBBS course, so to get enrolled into JIPMER MBBS, aspirants must register and apply for NEET 2020 entrance exam.
Registration on website and Filling the Application Form
Application forms for NEET 2020 were released on December 2, 2019. Interested candidates need to register themselves on the official website of NTA and fill the application form for NEET.
Payment of the Application Fee
After filling the NEET application form, candidates must make the payment of the application fee online using credit card/ debit card/ net banking for the successful submission of application form.

Issuance of the Admit Card
Admit cards will be issued only to the successful applicants who have duly filled and submitted the application form and paid the registration fee on or before the last date. NEET 2020 Admit Cards will be issued in the first week of July, 2020.
Appearing for NEET 2020
Candidates must appear and qualify NEET 2020 to get admission in JIPMER MBBS. Marks or scores of other entrance exams are not acceptable by the institute.
JIPMER 2020 Exam Pattern
A total of 3 hours will be given to the candidates to cover 200 MCQ types questions under 5 sections viz. Physics, Biology, Chemistry, English Language & Comprehension and Logical & Quantitative Reasoning. Four marks will be awarded for each right answer and one mark will be deducted for each wrong attempt. NEET 2020 exam will be held on July 26 2020.

The result for JIPMER 2020 will be announced online in the last week of August by the institute in a PDF format. Based on the categories of candidates, separate lists of JIPMER results will be published only for the candidates who took the entrance test.
JIPMER 2020: Counselling
The counselling for JIPMER 2020 will begin in an offline mode in the last week of August 2020 for the selected candidates whose names are enlisted in the counselling list that will be displayed after the announcement of JIPMER result. To attend the JIPMER 2020 counselling, the qualified candidates will need to report to the mini auditorium of JIPMER, Puducherry and attend all the four rounds of counselling including the last open round.
