New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released, in a notification, the detailed scheme for assessment of cancelled pending board exams for Class 10 and Class 12. The Board has proposed three types of assessment schemes for the students depending on how many exams each student has appeared in. the Board assured that following this assessment scheme, the results will be declared by July 15.
The Board told the Supreme Court on Thursday that it will be cancelling the pending board exams for class 10 and class 12 which were scheduled to be held between July 1 and July 15. The Board also told the apex court that no exams will be held for class 10. The board has taken this call as many states expressed inability to hold the board examination amid current COVID-19 situation.
Here are all the things you need to know about the assessment of cancelled pending exams :
- More than three subjects: For the students who have appeared in the exams in more than 3 subjects, the average of marks obtained in the best three subjects will be awarded in subjects in which exams have not taken place.
- Three subjects: For the students who have appeared in the exams in three subjects then, the average of marks obtained in the best two performing subjects will be awarded in subjects in which exams have not taken place.
- Less than three subjects: For the students who have appeared in exams in either one or two subjects then, the "performance in the appeared exams" and "performance in the internal, practical or project assessment" will be used to award the marks in the subjects in which exams have not taken place.
- All Subjects: For students who have appeared in exams for all subjects, the result will be declared based on standard practice.
- Optional Exam: Class 12 students who wish to improve their performance by opting for appearing in the exam. The exams dates are yet to be released. However, class 10 board exams are scrapped completely, so they cannot opt for an optional exam.
