The Central Board of Secondary Education launched TERM (Teacher Energized Resources Manuals) to enhance students learning in a competitive environment.
New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education launched TERM (Teacher Energized Resources Manuals) to enhance students learning in a competitive environment. The board has taken this initiative to build competencies of teachers and students in a remote learning challenging environment.
This is a series of manuals for class series VI to X, especially for teachers.
This year, the board has dedicated the academic session 2020-21 to enhance competency-based learning. This means, it solely focuses on the learning outcomes that students need to achieve.
On the occasion of the launch of TERM, Mr Biswajit Saha, Director (Training and Skill Education) said, "TERM is a suggestive mechanism by CBSE, for teachers to develop pedagogical plans while implementing competency-based learning in the classroom and review its outcome."
The manual is a comprehensive guide suggesting certain activities, role-plays which can be carried out by teachers to explain a tough concept. With the help of stories and activities, they can create activities to explain certain activities.
"Completing the syllabus and examining students through a set of question papers has been in the practice for decades. It is time to think differently, look beyond textbooks and focus on developing competencies of a child rather than only knowledge, " he elaborated.
Initially, TERM manuals were introduced for science and mathematics at large.
"CBSE is starting with these two subjects as it has been observed that a large number of students show disinterest towards Mathematics and Science. Through TERM, the board is hoping to retain curiosity and generate interest among students about these subjects," said Mr Saha
Conclusively, these are meant for teachers, but parents can also take help from these manuals to help their ward improve competencies and achieve the learning objectives to the fullest.
