JEE Main and NEET should be conducted only after completion of Odisha state's class 12 exams, suggested Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. He made this statement in a video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Patnaik said, "National levels entrance examinations like NEET, JEE, CLAT and similar other examinations should be conducted only after state-level class 12 examinations are completed." Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the examinations were postponed in the state.
Amid the outbreak, the government was forced to cancel many UG/PG college entrance exams of the state as well. Adhering to the rules, schools and colleges of the state will be shut until June 30th.
NEET and JEE Main Exam Dates Announced
NTA will now conduct the NEET examinations of 2020 on July 26, 2020. The admit cards will be released 15 days before the exam dates by the exam authorities. So registered candidates can download their admit cards by July 11. The JEE Mains is now to be conducted from July 18 to July 23, 2020. The exams are to be conducted in two shifts.
CM Expresses His Concern
As the board exams are also to be conducted around this time, Chief Minister Patnaik expressed his concern that candidates from Odisha will not get ample time to prepare for both exams. Furthermore, if a student is able to crack the entrance exam but is not able to pass the board exams, he or she is liable to lose their seat.
