New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) on Friday, July 3, issued the new exam dates for national level tests-Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2020. Because of this, JEE Advanced also got postponed.
Both exams-JEE Main & NEET will now be conducted in September.
The New dates were released considering the current situation of Covid-19 countrywide.
As per HRD Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', the JEE Main-entrance exam to UG level Engineering courses will be conducted from September 1 to September 6 and JEE Advanced will be held on September 27. NEET-the entrance exam to UG level courses in Medical Colleges will be held on September 13.
This is for the second time that the exams stand postponed this year. These national-level tests were previously postponed to July month.
Taking it to twitter Dr Pokhriyal tweeted, "Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone #JEE & #NEET examinations. JEE Main will be held between 1st-6th Sept, JEE Advanced exam will be held on 27th Sept &NEET examination will be held on 13th Sept."
The Ministry was compelled to revisit the idea of conducting exams amid Covid-19 pandemic, after complaints and criticism raised by parents and students nationwide. A few days back the Supreme Court received a plea, of parents of students appearing for NEET, demanding to postpone the exams
Along with the tweet, Dr Pokhriyal also posted a video message to students which said, "I hope you will utilize this time to prepare well sharpen your points further."
